More Foodie ABC’s

Hi bloggies!!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I know I did Smile  I went to my cousin’s bridal shower (pictures will be up later), saw X-Men:First Class [If you haven’t seen it, watch it!!], and got to eat s’mores for the first time.

And now I’ll indulge you in the second half of my foodie survey

L is for Lunch, what was yours today?

I haven’t had lunch yet but I will tell you about my lunch from yesterday. I had a pasta salad with feta cheese and chicken covered in light Italian dressing. It was delicious.

M: is for Microwave, what is your favorite microwave meal/snack?

I love making Ashley’s oat cake in the microwave

Easy, fast, and super delicious!

N: is for nutrients, do you like carbs, fats, or proteins best?

This is an easy one. I’m a fats lover all the way!

Give me the peanut butter please

Cinnamon raisin swirl=

O: is for Oil, what kind do you like to use?

I always use extra virgin olive oil for cooking.

P: is for Protein, how do you gets yours?

I get in a lot of protein. Whether it’s in the form of chicken, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, or my delicious fro-yo!

Who wouldn’t like to eat this for protein? Winking smile

Q: is for Quaker, how do you like your oats?

This is an easy one. I love my oats hot, cold, and every way in between.

R: is for Roasting, what is your favorite thing to roast?

Veggies! And lots of them. I love roasting up asparagus or potatoes

S: is for Sandwich, what’s your favorite kind?

When it comes to sammies, I’m pretty boring. I either do a classic turkey and cheese combo or I do a spin off of breakfast and do an egg, cheese, and sausage sammie.

T: is for Travel, how do you handle eating while traveling?

It all depends on where I’m going but usually I tend to indulge. How often to do you get to travel? When I went on my last cruise I did choose the more calorie friendly options but I had my ice cream and my decadent tropical drinks Winking smile

The bf and I at Key West (May 2010)

U: is for Unique, what is one of your weirdest food combos?

All of my food combos are weird in one way or another. One time I was eating a waffle sandwich with ham and cheese covered in syrup and my friends thought I was disgusting….Don’t they sell this stuff at like Dunkin Donuts?? I didn’t think I was that weird…

V: is for Vitamins, what kind do you take?

I take Centrum chewables Smile

W: is for Wasabi, yay or nay?

Omg I love me some wasabi. Yay all the way!!

X: is for Xtra special, what food holds a special place in your heart?

I definitely have a soft spot for oreos could anyone not??!

Y: is for Yogurt, you can only afford 1 cup, what kind do you purchase?…

Eek this one is hard because I love yogurt! I’m going to say Dannon Light and Fit. ❤ the stuff

Z: is for Zero guilt, what food can you enjoy over and over without any guilt?

If I plan on overindulging then any food that I eat I consider to be guilt free. I love to make fro-yo at home because I can control what goes into it so it’s never “guilty” but sometimes you need the naughty toppings.

Love Menchies

There you have it! My full survey. Now tell me…

ABC’s of Food!

Happy Friday!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far. I’m having quite the writer’s block so I decided to do a survey that has been going around the blog world. Smile

Let’s get started peeps!

A: is for Apple, what’s your favorite variety?

I’m not really into apples, I gotta be honest. I know you all love your apples dipped in peanut butter but I’m not really a fan. If I had to choose I would pick Golden Delicious.

B: is for Bread, regardless of nutrition, calories, or whole grains what is your favorite type to have a nice big piece of?

I love bread. I went a long time without eating it when I use to think that carbs=evil. Glad I know better now. There’s just something about cinnamon raisin bread that owns my heart.

C: is for Cereal what is your favorite kind currently (just one!)

Wow this is a tough one. I love all kinds of cereal but as of recently I’ve been pretty addicted to Cheerios. Not just any kind of cheerios…Chocolate Cheerios! Today I had Cinnamon Burst for the first time and I fell in love.

I will never give up cereal

D: is for Doughnuts, you might not currently be eating them but what kind do you fancy?

When it comes to sweet treats I’m like a 7 year old. I want it covered with vanilla frosting and sprinkles galore!

Btw today is National Donut Day, so hit up your Dunkin Donuts for a free donut with the purchase of a drink. Nommm

E: is for Eggs, how would you like yours prepared?

I’m a big lover of eggs over easy.

Especially in a sammie!! Nomomom

F: is for Fat Free, what is your favorite fat free product?

Hmm I use to live off the fat free goods back in the day. Now I say bring me the peanut butter!! But there are some fat free foods I fancy. I love fat free refried beans in burritos and yummy veggies.

G: is for Groceries, where do you purchase yours at?

I wish I had a Trader Joes by me but I don’t. I shop at Publix, Winn Dixie, and the occasional Wally World (Walmart).

I also like Costco when I’m running low on nut butters and need to stock up!

H: is for Hot Beverages, what is your favorite hot drink?

This is an easy one. Coffee!!! I love it. Must have my daily cup in the morning to get my motor running.

I hate to say I’m addicted but I kind of am lol

I’m all about the french vanilla roast. Yumm!

I: is for Ice Cream, pick a favorite flavor and add a fun topping.

Since most of you know about my obsession with all things oreo related it’s no suprise my favorite ice cream is Cookies and Cream!

Add a topping?…Oreos, duh!!

J: is for Jams or Jellies, do you eat them, and if so what kind and flavor?

Of course I eat them! My favorite is apricot, especially over my warm oats.

K: is for Kashi, name your favorite Kashi product?

I love Kashi cereals, so much healthier than all those processed brands. My favorites are Berry Crisp and Honey Sunshine.

I don’t eat cereal alone Winking smile

There you have the first half of my survey! Smile

So tell me what’s your favorite cereal? What about ice cream? (Hard to pick just 1!!)

The Payoff

“The most prepared are the most dedicated”

Haiii everyone!  It’s Sunday, let’s do the happy dance 😉 you’re wondering about my quote it’s because today is a very big day for my boyfriend who is now sitting in front of a computer taking his medical boards licensing exam 😮 I have never seen anyone put in so much effort into studying for an exam ever. He has literally not left his apartment for months except for work and groceries.

Today is finally the big payoff so I’m wishing him all the best and I can’t wait for him to finish so we can go out to eat 😀 I think this may actually be our first restaurant date “gasp!!” We never go out to eat because we love making our own food or if we do eat out it’s after a night of drinking and we usually end up at a pizza joint lol But tonight is very special and we have been planning Chinese for a long time now. I’m super excited! This will bring him one step closer to being a practicing MD. I’m so proud “tear”

My morning was pretty mellow. I woke up, went to the gym for a little cardio and came home to grub on an awesome breakfast

Chocolate Banana Oats

I’m really loving those bunny graham crackers! Today though, I added a little something extra that I found at Publix.

Cranberry Pecan
It was bogo! How in the world could I say no? I love the cranberry pieces. Overall this baby gets two thumbs up for sure.
Double Thumbs Up

Some of my past eats have been equally as yummy. On Saturday I decided to make myself a little egg muffin for lunch. I’ve been craving eggs pretty bad lately.

I think it looks so cute! Lol 😀 I made it with 2 eggs, 3 ounces of ham, and some cheese both inside and on top. I also added some red pepper flakes for heat. Yum 😀 (word of advice: Spray a lot of cooking spray in your ramekin or pyrex)

I also got inventive with my protein powder and made my casein pudding shake again with strawberries.

Protein Parfait

I love how creamy the shake comes out and with the addition of Kashi it was perfect 😉

This weekend I took advantage of my boyfriend’s ice cream machine and we made more fro-yo 😀 (Yes I know I have a problem with fro-yo and oatmeal :()

Mine 😀

That cheater threw a vitatop in there 😦 I didn’t have the calories, but I did use a 100 calorie chocolate pretzel snack pack  and a reddi-wip finish.

Hope everyday is having a great weekend 😀

  • Any recent food obsessions?

(mine are obvious hehe ;))

Battle Of The Oats

dancing stick figures
Hope everyone is partying it up because it is Friday!! 😀 I just wanted to say thank you for all the positive feedback I got from my last post. It’s nice to know I’m not the only indecisive one out there. It’s such a terrible trait that I have which I’m definitely trying to work on everyday. You guys are such an inspiration, love you all! 😀

In case you wondering the recipe for my cheesecake froyo I posted it here (let me know if you make it!)

I started off the day with a fantastic workout consisting of:

  • Leg presses: 5 reps with 220 lbs
  • Push ups: 15
  • Step ups: 8 reps with 20 lb dumbbells in each hand
  • Lat pulldowns
  • Hyperextensions
  • Cable Crunches
  • Wood Choppers

I love my weight lifting days, gives me so much energy throughout the day.

After I got my muscles pumping I was ready to give them some major fuel 😉

Breakfast was as follows:

Chocolate Nanner Oats

I made them stove top today 😉

In the mix: 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, cocoa powder, cinnamon, 9g chia seeds,1/4 nanner

Topped with: 1/4 nanner, peanuts, cinnamon raisin pb, apricot jam, and organic bunny graham crackers!!

As soon as I saw these I knew they had to be in my possession. They were so yummy! And only 130 calories for 30 grams. Perfect finish to my oats 🙂

Lunch was a simple but delicious Egg McMuffin 😉 Watch out McDonalds!!

If you were wondering about the title of my post it was because of these oats that I made the other day

My fabulous pumpkin pie oats

Mmmm yummm 😀

Battle of the oats!

  • Which do you prefer? Pumpkin oats or Banana?

(Nanners will always be my number 1 choice ;))

Luck of The Irish

Hope you all had a great Saint Patties!!! I for one totally did 😀

With a day like this how could you not?!

Hollywood Beach 😀

Very different from South Beach, this beach is more low key and everything is extremely close.

But before we get to the beach let me show you my awesome breakfast!

Pumpkin Oats

I ran out of bananas, it was a sad morning 😦 Nonetheless I had to make due with what I had in my pantry. Used up the rest of my pumpkin to make the oats.

In my oats I have: 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup almond milk, 1/8 cup canned pumpkin, 5g flax, & cocoa powder.

Topped with: walnuts, apricot jam, cinnamon raisin pb, and chocolate granola

Money shot!!

My latest little concoction has been to blend Casein protein powder with frozen strawberries and some xanthan gum as a thickener. It makes a huge bowl of creamy pudding

I topped it with some Fiber One cereal and it’s a great way for me to meet my protein intake. Delicious 🙂

We took some fruits to the beach and I munched on an apple while tanning. I didn’t get in the water but it was nice to just sit in the sun and talk amongst friends. By the time dinner came rolling around I was sooooo hungry! We sat down at a place called Nick’s Bar to eat. The menu was less than appeasing but I was able to pick out a salad amongst all the burgers, chicken wings, and other fried foods.

Not a great picture, it was taken incognito lol

Just a house salad with blackened chicken on top

Overall it was a fun day with some much needed R&R time. I got back home at around 10pm and felt so tired. My workout this morning felt terrible. I was hardly able to get in any pushups. I just wanted to sleep 😦 At least my body has 2 days of relaxation to look forward too.

  • What did you do for Saint Patties? Did ya have green beer?! I didn’t lol
