My Fantastic Foodie Friends

Yes I’m talking about you! ๐Ÿ™‚ You are the reason I blog, and take secret random pics of some of the foods I enjoy to eat. Today was another beautiful day in the MIA and a certain 2 bloggers made it all the better.

I am beyond appreciative for having been awarded the Versatile Blogger award from Sophia and Colleen, both whoseย  blogs I follow religiously everyday. It’s not easy to blog about your life but since I’ve started doing this, I feel this great friendship where we can allย  be ourselves. In my city no one (other than my bf) eats the way I do. No one appreciates oatmeal, greek yogurt, fruits, and veggies the way that we do. I don’t have that support system back home and constantly get harsh comments on why I eat certain foods, so to have others say that my bowl of oats looks delicious means a lot. Thank you guys for being a positive influence in my life.

Here are the rules for this award:

  • Write a post like this: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog
  • Tell your readers seven facts about you
  • Award recently discovered bloggers with the prize.
  • Contact the winners.

So let’s start ๐Ÿ™‚

1) I danced ballet for 15 years of my life and if it’s taught me one thing is to be passionate about something. This was my anxiety outlet from school, life, and all those teenage problems that I constantly worried about. I graduated in 2008 and it was definitely one of my proudest moments.

2) I was Valedictorian of my high school. Yes everyone, I was a nerdddd ๐Ÿ™‚ I took some AP classes, did dual enrollment, and ended up with a pretty good GPA. And no I did not study 12 hours a day lol

3) I am a creature of habit which means that I do NOT like change. This is something I’m trying to work on but it really hasn’t been easy. I like a routine so if you stray me too far then I start to panic ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

4) College wasn’t the best 4 years of my life. I didn’t go to any frat parties, I didn’t join a sorority, I didn’t make tons of new friends. I went to school, then back home, did my homework, and went to sleep. My friends were and still are my high school friends.

5) Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I go to bed planning what my morning indulgence is going to be. Not many options but always between: cereal, hot oats, cold oats, or waffles. Oats seem to consistently win this battle.

Hot oats was on my menu with kashi, 1/2 banana, cinnamon raisin pb, and my new found love: chia ๐Ÿ˜€

6) Lose It is my favorite app of all time. I track my calories everyday and I can’t live without it. I love knowing what I eat and how much of it I eat. Not many people do this because they find it tedious but I literally enjoy it. It’s not a waste of my time and I actually think it’s fun ๐Ÿ˜ฎ GASP!

7) I live to weight train. I want to be strong not thin, I want to have muscles, not be “toned”, and I want to be healthy. I thank my boyfriend for changing my unhealthy eating habits of low fat foods, low carb diets, and for introducing peanut butter and oatmeal into my life. The over processed garbage that I was eating soon had me with a diagnosis of high cholesterol. I neglected what my body needed and never saw myself as being too thin. I enjoy food and I eat to train. My newest gym obsession? Deadlifts ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks Colleen and Sophia for giving me such an awesome award! The 3 great bloggers that I will pass this award down to are:

I am definitely a nerd too, but I am in a sorority. It creates such a hectic life of grades, social life and sleep. I try to keep above a 3.5 GPA, hang out with people when I can and get 8-9 hours of sleep every night.

I have always admired ballerinas. Dancing is NOT easy! My mom danced for most of her life too. I love the strength training pic too! You must be strong with those guns ๐Ÿ™‚

Random fact: When I was little, all I wanted to do was be a cheerleader or a figure skater. Somehow I ended up running and strength training. It’s weird how things turn out!

Love this post! It’s so great to learn more about you…smartie britches! Way to go you on being valedictorian. I graduated in the top of my class but I wasn’t too upset about not being The Top…I loathe public speaking!

It’s funny, I was JUST thinking today how all my blogworld friends seem to “get me” more than my real life ones or my family. Nobody seems to understand my excitement with my newest spinach creation or latest hummus addiction. I am so so lucky to have found a community of friends to share it all with!

PS, nice guns! Woo hoo! You go girl!

Look at those biceps, girl! Amazing!

You were quite the achiever!! I did ballet from age 4-about 12 or 13. Biggest regret was giving up on it.

Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day too. And I’m also guilty of determining what my breakfast should be the next morning as I fall asleep. That ballet picture of you is beautiful! It makes me wish I stuck with ballet when I tried it when I was like 6.

I just found your blog and I am in love!
I can relate to your college experience. I spent my first two years at UCSB which is a huge party school and I hated it. I had an impossible time relating to the other students and struggled to making meaningful friendships. This year (Im a junior) I transferred to a different UC and I am so happy! I have made some seriously awesome friends that I know will stick around for the long haul. But for those first two years – my friends were my highschool friends, and unfortunately for me, they all lived in Texas. (I am from Austin, TX).
It sounds like you live in a super tiny town like in the Midwest, where healthy food isnt really appreciated. Accurate?

Aww I’m glad switching schools made you happier. I loved my classes and everything but I didn’t have like actual friends lol Just classmates. Tiny town? No way girl! I live in Miami, Fl. ๐Ÿ™‚
